Many patients experience poor fit at some point during treatment, and while it can be exasperating, it\u2019s usually fixable! Here are a few steps you can take to find out what might be going on and get your smile straightening back on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Don\u2019t Force It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your aligner feels way too tight or won\u2019t go on fully, don\u2019t try to bite or press it into place with force. Doing so could damage the aligner or your teeth. Before you call your dentist, try the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Use Your Chewies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Invisalign \u201cchewies\u201d are small, rubbery tools that help seat your aligners fully. Just place one between your teeth and gently bite down for a few minutes, focusing on the problem area. Do this a few times a day, especially when putting your aligners back in after post-mealtime oral care. Many patients find this solves their issue in just a day or two!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Check Your Wear Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Skipping a day (or even just a few hours too often) can cause your teeth to shift slightly out of alignment. This makes it harder for the next tray to fit properly. If you\u2019re switching trays early or wearing them inconsistently, your aligners might not \u201cmatch\u201d your teeth anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Call Your Dentist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your aligner still doesn\u2019t fit after using chewies and following your wear schedule closely, it\u2019s time to check in with your dentist. They may recommend going back to your previous tray, adjusting your treatment timeline, or creating a new aligner to ensure you stay on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bad fit doesn\u2019t mean your treatment is ruined, but it does mean you should act quickly.
