If you&#8217;re experiencing any of the following symptoms, don&#8217;t wait it out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Severe, throbbing pain that doesn&#8217;t fade and spreads to your jaw, ear, or neck.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pain accompanied by swelling in your face, gums, or jaw\u2014this can indicate an abscess or infection that needs immediate care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pain after a dental injury, like a knocked-out or cracked tooth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pain with fever or difficulty swallowing\u2014these are signs that an infection may be spreading, which is a situation that can quickly become dangerous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In any of these cases, contact your emergency dentist as soon as possible. Timing matters the most when an infection or injury is involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Your Smile Sting Can Wait<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, tooth pain is a minor annoyance rather than a full-blown disaster, even if it\u2019s chronic. For example, if you have thin enamel, tooth sensitivity could be an issue. This is like a brief twinge when you eat something cold, sweet, or acidic. In most cases, it\u2019s not an emergency, but it is worth mentioning at your next appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same can be said for minor soreness after a dental procedure, which is completely normal during healing.
